As a household name, supplying long lasting beautiful tools for everyday projects, I couldn't pass up an introduction to the company from Managing Director Nick Wright before The Handmade Fair.

I have always been fascinated by the ability that some people have for translating beautiful life like designs onto paper with the use of pencils. Such a simple tool means that beautiful prints like this one, depend solely on talent of the creator. In this case, the artist is Hayley Louise Crann.

It probably won't be a surprise to you that I am a big fan of Kirstie Allsopp. I have always enjoyed a bit of Location, Location, Location and Relocation, Relocation. When Kirstie ventured into the world of TV shows demonstrating her love and enthusiasm for crafting and 'handmade', I couldn't help but identify with her. Mostly the way she gets overly excited and enthused about the tiniest (but pretty/cool/lovely) things. It is very much like watching someone imitate my reactions!

Kirstie Allsopp's 'The Handmade Fair' September 2016 and a Special Crafty Bs Offer

On the 16th – 18th of September, I am going to be heading to The Green at Hampton Court Palace for a few days of crafting, perusing and probably a fair bit of eating! I want you #CraftyBs to join me so read on for your very special offer! Oh yes, you read that right…

Crafts For Christmas Extravaganza with ICHF

You will have seen recently on my social media ramblings that I had the pleasure of visiting the ICHF Crafts for Christmas show at the NEC in Birmingham. Not only did I return with an eagerness to get Christmas underway (yes yes I know!) but I was totally inspired by new projects, craft supplies and products. I met lots of lovely new people as well as catching up with some familiar faces and ICHF did not fail in putting on yet another great event. Festive offerings all round, Christmas displays and a live band. I was not disappointed.

In 2012, I attended Cake International and it offered no shortage of inspiration. In my search for the perfect venue for a crafty catch up with the group of ladies I 'left' in Cambridge, I discovered that ICHF Events have three events running over one weekend at the NEC Birmingham this March. I thought this would be the perfect place for a reunion and to gather a bit of inspiration in my mission to re-discover my crafty side this year! I'm not short of excuses to craft as I am Making Home and I cannot

Cambourne Craft Fair

The sun was shining, stall holders were displaying their wonderful goods, the bouncy castle was inflated, the cakes were out and the kettle was on as the lovely lot from Cambourne and the surrounding areas came through the doors at Cambourne Craft fair last weekend. 

Whilst grown ups, mums, dads, grandparents and carers enjoyed a bacon roll and a hot drink, the little ones had a turn on the bouncy castle and enjoyed a recovery cup of fruit squash. Then there was cake! Cupcakes from the Crafty B's cafe (Cherry Chocolate, Lemon & White Chocolate and Very Vanilla) or a vegan selection from the lovely C.A.K.E stall (amazing). 

Crafty B's moved over to squeeze in the Wildlife Trust (stupid wind) who came and made pipe cleaner dragonflies with the children and Crafty B's teamed up with the Re-Imagine Centre in the lobby to run pay as you go craft workshops using recycled materials. We decorated pots and planted flowers, made flower brooches, cards and gift tags.

Once through into the main hall, children had the opportunity to partake in a bumble bee hunt around the stalls to win cake, see the balloon man and make some beaded jewellery and ladies (or men!) had the chance to visit a nail bar as well as browsing the 35 stalls filled with children's books, art, handmade jewellery, aprons, jams, cards, children clothes & accessories, fancy dress, bunting, glasswork and more. There was a huge selection of suitable gifts for Mothers Day and I dare say that there will be some happy mums receiving handmade cards and presents this weekend purchased or made at the Crafty B's Craft Fair. 

Next up on the list of Crafty B's events is the Mini Makers Easter Craft workshops at Cambourne Church. They will take place on the Monday and Tuesday of both weeks in the holiday, 10am till 2pm.
