Making Home Link up #35: Upcycling Furniture #NationalUpcyclingDay

Welcome to the #MakingHome weekly link up!

Be inspired by posts all about moving house, home decor, DIY, crafts, family activities, recipes, gardening and more. It’s all here under one roof at Mrs Crafty B’s.

Don't forget to join in and link up your own posts. The linky is open from Friday until Tuesday. Find out how to take part at the end of this post.

I took a leap. I have been so inspired by some of the posts that I read on other blogs, that I decided to try something new. Something a bit different for me. I am dreading it and I am excited all at the same time. I hope you're going to offer up some tips, some advice and some posts to inspire my next project; upcyling some furniture!

A couple of weeks ago, I was walking back from having taken my car to the garage when I noticed that the donation centre for a charity shop on the industrial state near to us, took donations of furniture. I carried on walking and wondering if they might sell directly from there. So I turned back. I managed to buy two wooden chairs which you may have seen via my NEW Instagram feed (yeah, I took the step into Instagram...find and follow me ok?) and I found this side table in the 'skip' pile. Can you believe it. They were just going to throw it out!

Ok, right now it is not much to look at and I am not at all experienced in doing this but I saw potential. It is really sturdy and I feel like I can do something with this. I liked the style of it too. What do you think?

I have no idea what I am going to do with it, where I am going to start or even where I am going to put it, but I know I am up for the challenge. I want to #ReCreate something fabulous from this which would otherwise have been thrown away.

I am relying on all of you upcyclers out there to hit me with (I mean link up obviously) your posts and comments about upcycling furniture. Tips on tools, paint, inspiration, techniques and mediums. Everything and anything. And invite everyone you know who has experience in this please. The more the merrier (and I need all of the help I can get). As it is #NationalUpcyclingDay today, I am sure there are some great posts about!

  3. My only experience of upcycling furniture was a very simple spray paint job (my tiny yellow table) but I do pin a ridiculous amount of furniture makeovers with every intention of doing loads more in the future! You can find my pinterest board here if you want to check them out, I've been trying to collect peoples advice on what paints to use etc too https://uk.pinterest.com/jsumoftheirstor/furniture-makeovers/
Good luck - I saw do something bright and fabulous!

    1. Oh yes please! I don't even know where to start. I guess once I sand it, I need to prime it with something before painting?

  8. Still there leaves some space for keeping tea cups, coffee mugs and a water bottle. The desk would look empty even after accommodating so many items. It would provide you more space to keep important papers. Fiteo slow close drawer slides
