Making Home Link Up #23: Making a Lampshade With Wallpaper

Welcome to the #MakingHome weekly link up!

Be inspired by posts all about home; moving house, home decor, DIY, crafts, family activities, recipes, gardening and more. It’s all here under one roof at Mrs Crafty B’s.

Don't forget to join in this week and link up your own posts. The linky is open from Friday until Tuesday. Find out how to take part at the end of this post.

Ok confession time. We are in excess of bare bulbs in our house. That is to say that we have not really focused on putting lampshades up. In our home office we just popped up an old Ikea paper shade and a while back I shared how to make a lampshade using fabric. This is probably why we have no shades up. The creative side of me has already decided I need to make them all but of course time is lacking. Recently however I did make a lampshade using superhero wallpaper for the Little Bs.
I fully recommend using these kits. They are easier to use than you might think. This particular one was a 30cm drum kit which I purchased via Amazon. Here is an affiliate link if you fancy having a go.
I am trying to decide on what type of shades I should put in the hallway and landing next. I am going down a travel/London type theme. Would love recommendations for styles of lampshades!

HERE'S HOW TO JOIN IN WITH THE LINK UP

Place the #MakingHome badge to the bottom of the post you are sharing (or in your sidebar) using the coding under the image below (get in touch if you have trouble). This helps to direct readers to all participants in the link up.

- Add your link via the blue button at the bottom of this post. Just click 'Add Your Link' and follow the instructions. Your post can be recent or past and you can link up more than once; please just remember to use the badge. You can link up from Friday until Tuesday.

- Visit some or all of the others who are linking up for inspiration and maybe offer up a comment or two so that we are all feeling the #MakingHome love. Don't forget to include the hashtag so they know where you are visiting from.

- Be sure to tweet @MrsCraftyB using #MakingHome once you have linked up so that I can #RT.

Find Mrs Crafty B on Pinterest to be added to the #MakingHome board. You can pin your posts there too!

  1. Such a great idea, a few years ago I had terrible trouble finding matching lampshade to a room I had redecorated - it never occurred to me to make my own.

  2. I remember your fabric lampshade as it looked so great. But wallpaper is also a touch of genus! Becky xx #MakingHome

    1. Thanks Becky. It was certainly more tricky with wallpaper but I got there in the end haha.

  3. I like the idea of making my own lampshades! We have lots of rooms to fill with lampshades and these look like a really cost effective way to do it! Plus I like the fact that they will be unique!
